The manager at the local Kwitfit assured me the repair would be safe so, given he knew more about tyres than me, I took his word for it.

I think we can all get a bit precious about things, but at the end of the day it's your money and your peace of mind. Merely relaying my own experiences ...

Have the tyre looked at....It may not be as bad as it appears. I had my previous rear tyres repaired and they performed without any issues. I have used the repaired tyres on an airfield day

I have driven on repaired tyres but its allways in the back of my mind while trying to enjoy my a country road blast. A new tyre is a lot cheaper than replacing you car or even worse. Repair the tyre and sell it to the drift guys their always after new rubbers to practice on.

It looks far enough away from the edge, so I'd repair it.

I had one fixed in a similar location and thrashed it round on a couple of trackdays without any issues at all.

Don't be scared

To be fair that's a pretty good recommendation.

I bet the garage make a lot more money on selling you a tyre than they do by repairing one

I'd have been more cynical had he said replace it

Looks fine to me, I have repaired a couple similar.

If anyone was REALLY worried about blowouts or failures then they would be on RFTs.

So thats how many of you then?

IIWU I'd get it repaired somewhere good and ask them for their opinion - not the thats £120 quid sir type of opinion .

It doesnt look too bad, Ive had similar replaced in older cars.

Just take it easy for a short while, £15 vs £130, im sure it will be safe.

funny you should mention that, these Assyms have a very thick sidewall. It's not the first flat I've had with one of these. One of the rears had a failed valve, it was down to zero but the tyre still kept its shape. Driving at town speeds it was only noticable under hard breaking and acceleration, I pulled over saw that it looked a little low and was stunnned when I tested it and found no pressure in the tyre.

That bolt today, again through town traffic and the first I noticed was a faint tick noise, at 9psi around town the car felt normal and again the tyre just looked a little soft rather than virtualy flat.

Think I'll check with my local garage in the morning or maybe the kwick-fit otherwise I'll go with a replacement single. £128 fitted from Event.

There's a tyre shop close to mine which I would highly recommend.

I'll text you the details
