Depends what kind of roads you're talking about. In my part of Scotland we've got a sh*tload of tight, twisty single trackers on shoddy tarmac. Driving an S2K like a CTR on roads like that will kill you. That's in the dry, never mind the wet.
I have to disagree, I own both (I know you used to have one Billy) and feel a lot safer in the s2000s ability to handle the rougher tarmac than the ctr.

The steering in the CTR is horrible in anything but a dry smooth road and all the stiffening they put in to compensate for it's height, makes it bounce around like crazy.

And understeer? Ask Euan how badly it understeered when doing the Dukes Pass run.

It's a great car for the money, and for what it is (a hot hatch) but it is light years behind the S IMO

The limits are higher than you think, track it and you'll know(if you haven't already)

Each to their own I suppose, but I can't help feeling that for whatever reasons he missed the true point of the S (or any 2 seat RWD sports car for that matter).

Once you've been bitten (not in that way) by RWD, it's hard to consider FWD again IMO

It was THE major factor in choosing a replacement for the S2000 and one which made things pretty difficult for the money.
i second, third or forth that (not read the entire post yet). The thought of a fwd car now would be a nightmare... i've lived with mine for 2.5 years and have had no probs..

Not sure where this statistic about ownership years = 1, ive owned mine from new, and itll be three years old this Sept. I really like CTR's always have, and they are very capable hot hatches, id definitely have one if i was in the market for such a car - but i dont see how anyone could justify it being "a better car to own", like Gad says the comparisons are pointless.

Besides i cant take anyone who uses the term "w00t" in a sentence seriously.

what do you's make of this post from "Taz" on the CTR forum?
It would have been nice if you had mentioned the explanation that I made below that original post instead of making people take swipes at me on here now.

Yes I am "taz" from the CTR forums.

I'll paste my 2nd and 3rd posts on the thread as well so you get the whole picture.

However don't get me wrong. The S is an awesome car. Just after a year I don't think it's quite for me. I am not a chav, and what I ment by the CTR is more "fun" was that the S is quiet smooth accelerating up through vtec whereas the CTR has that very distinctive vtec kick which I enjoy, and also being a smaller car it feels like you are going faster. Personally for me I think it's more fun, but each to their own. I wasn't trying to slag anything off about the S as you can see from my two reply posts below.

1st reply from me:

[QUOTE]Hehehe. Yeah each to their own. Personally a year ago I saw it as natural progression, however after living for the S for a year I missed my CTR. I wrote a crap load of reasons on my website which I'll paste here for your information. But if you like the S then so be it. Enjoy it Smile

Just I had my fun in it and now it's time for me to go back to what I really liked.

Anyway reasons below:

1. The novelty of the ability to put the roof down has worn off. This was fun for a while but to be honest now I don

Oh yeah and as for the ownership 1 year thing, it was the dealer who told me that quote. I was only passing on what he said. Though admitedly he could have been saying that because he was trying to agree with me to sell me a new car. *shrug*

I'll apologise for using the word *woot* though

I don't think your dissing it, nor is anyone dissing you apart from the woot thing, and actually "dissing" while we're at it.

I don't understand how you can think a CTR is more fun to drive, the exact opposite is true in my case, but I suppose it's what you like, I like a fine Scottish Cheddar cheese where as other people buy Cathedral City.

If you think this is bad you should see some of the threads we've had with Boxa.net

It's puzzling that you think a FWD hot hatch is more fun to drive than purpose built RWD sports car. My MY02 still has a very distinctive VTEC kick by the way.

I can relate to the roof thing though, hard top is still on and I'm really not arsed about putting it down at all any more.

I dunno. I can totally understand why you would think it's weird though!

Not sure how I can explain it really. I had a CTR for 12 months, and an S2000 for 12 months. And there's just something about it that I prefer driving the CTR. I can't really explain it. It's just what I felt best in I guess.

I do have far more experience in FWD cars. This is/was my first proper RWD car (had a couple of 1.8 ford sierra's before) and whilst I did drive it hard and with a lot of respect I can't help but think I do better in FWD.

Gotta admit it was a fun last 12 months though. The S is a superb car. Most of my friends think I'm crazy too, but after reading my reasons seem to understand a little better at least!
