Brian, I can remember Paper Lawyer fited his own a while back with his father and it isn't an easy job fron what I recall.
I think XViper did a How-To you may want to search for.
I can remember that it is easy to break some of the mounting bolts and when I had mine fitted I took 4 spare and the garage managed to break 2 of them (think I still have a couple somewhere).
As you know the diff is heavy so you will need to have a reasonable sized jack available to support it whilst it is unbolted and removed.
This is not a job I woul dattempt on my own ...... and the weather is going to be shit this weekend

A second pair of hands is very useful when finally dropping the diff and reinstalling it.
From memory, 6 prop shaft bolts (they can be seized), six bolts on each half shaft, undo the top wishbone bolts to give you some room to move the half shafts away from the diff, four bolts holding the diff to the mounts.
Off it comes
First time around - 2 hours to take the diff off plus any additional time spent with troublesome prop shaft bolts. A similar time to reinstall.

Can't see it being too hard, i replaced the rear diff on my GF's old Mk4 golf R32 last year on the driveway, looked hard but once still in there it took 3hrs. Like the Golf diff you'll need someone to help you support the diff and also to help lift it into position.
