Go for it - 911

(But then I'm a sucker for the 911 irrespective of its foibles....)

Everyone should own a 911 at some point in their lives.
As long as you are prepared to spend 3 times what you spend at the moment on maintenence, then go for it. There are a number of postings on the Porsche forum at www.pistonheads.com/gassing. The major issues are with RMS failure and a higher incidence of complete engine falure on the 996 as compared to the 993. Make sure you have a warranty.

This site has a good buyers guide:

These are the dealers I've seen mentioned on Pistonheads:

http://www.paragon.gb.com/sales/default.asp

http://www.shirleys-garage.co.uk/

http://www.911virgin.com/stock.htm

http://www.911sport.co.uk/

http://www.rsjsportscars.co.uk/opt/rsj_opt.htm

http://www.charlesivey.com/

As you can probably tell, I have them in my favourites for future reference...

However, I have a 13 mth old daughter, and it'd be nice to be able to take her out in my car. I just can't do that in the S.
I had this dilema but she turned 4 earlier this year and can safely use a booster seat in conjunction with the seatbelt.

She *loves* the S

(Before she was 4 I could still take her out in the wife's CRV )
