Does the honda stereo use a standard ISO connector
I've just ordered an alpine 9812 head unit, but on flicking through various posts about installs, they seem to imply I need a different wiring harness. On every other stereo I've installed into a modern car they simply plug straight into the back of the new unit, is this not the case with the s2k (its a 2001 model if it makes any difference). I realise that the dash controls wont work unless I buy the interface, but I did assume that the honda harness is just a standard ISO connector.

The Honda loom is not ISO-compliant and that is why you should buy the KCE adapter (see my sig) so that (a) you can plug the Honda wiring into the Alpine unit; and (b) the adapter also enables you to keep the use of your dashboard fingertip controls.
MCS direct are a popular choice of supplier and Halfords wil also order the adapter in.

you also need to buy an ISO antenna adaptor as well for this head unit.

Oh i only saw 1 type - i don't have the packaging anymore but if i remember correctly the male plug on the end of the OEM antenna was too big to fit in the female socket on the alpine.
The adapter i got had what looked like a larger socket than the Alpine socket joined to a small (smaller than on the antenna) male plug with a short (say 5cm) piece of co-ax. Hmmmm not sure that description is of much help...1 of the connectors was at a right-angle (i think it was the one that connected to the Alpine)
Take a look at http://www.incartec.co.uk/Incaraudio1_ante...nna_adapter.pdf
The image on the top left of the page (21-103) looks like what i got from Halfords - but it doesn't tell anything about the size of the socket and plug
hope that is of some help
