Hi NJHB

Send a copy to Honda UK Customer Service, and get them involved.

I find an extra 3 months unbelievable, their must be a major problem with production if they are putting orders back 3 months. If this is the case then everyone that has ordered will have problems.

When I ordered in May the dealer was told by Honda UK Allocation Department delivery August.

HI NJHB,

I don't think you need to mention your past history of car purchases as this is directing the reader's attention away from the matter at hand: why the car has been delayed and the potential cost to you.

It isn't clear from your letter as to what you will do if Honda do not agree to the terms of the original order. Will you pull out of the deal?

- Are you willing to wait the extra 3 months? If not, is there anything Honda could do that would make the wait bearable? If there is nothing Honda can do then you need to state this and say that if they do not deliver the car as originally agreed then you will pull out of the deal.
- You are obviously not happy with the possible reduction in the part exchange value of your car. You need to get Honda to explain why the delay is not their fault. What if Honda prove that the delay was through no fault of their own? Will you accept the terms of the contract? If not then you need to state that if they insist on changing the financial arrangements then you will pull out of the deal.

There are some minor changes I would make to the letter but the above are the main points.

I would send copies to the Sales Manager, Managing Director of the dealership and Honda UK Customer Services.

Hope this helps.

Tony

Thanks for the advice guys.

On balance I don't want to go in too heavy yet. I want to lay the groundwork to string them up by the b*lls later so as yet I don't want to involve Honda "Customer Services" or imply that I will. I want the dealer to clearly state his position in writing first.

I am lucky in so far that I already have my S2000 to get me through the summer - I feel very sorry for those that haven't.

I have had a letter in reply from the dealer today.

They have agreed to maintain the trade in price through to September

I am not in the least surprised.

I placed an order with "Scum of the Earth" (aka Slough) Honda last May. I was "promised delivery at the end of July, early August at the latest. Like you I could not get a definite date from the salesman so I contacted a friend with contacts in Honda. He told me that the order was not placed until June 30th - over a month later! Slough had just put my deposit in the bank and racked up the interest. My friend also told me that he had seen "my car" on the system and that there was no way I would see it until end Sept, due to shipping dates. Sure enough, as August progressed the dealer quoted delay after delay, until he finally confirmed an end Sept. delivery date. I believe he knew this all along and felt that if he strung me along I would be so keen to get the car I wouldn't mind the delay.

And to top it all, he charged me for road tax! After some haggling I got 6 months "free". Only later did I read the website and found all Hondas come with 12 months tax. When I confronted the dealer, he made a lame excuse that he had just received notification of this and would give me the full 12 months "free"

THIS SLOUGH HONDA SALESMAN WAS NO MORE THAN A COMMON CROOK AND SCHEISTER.

Even though I only had a couple of weeks to wait, I cancelled my order on principal. I will not accept this backstreet attitude from anyone, especially when I'm spending

Marky, the problem is the dealer still wins

He has the interest earned off your deposit and now he has an S2000 which he'll be able to sell without any problem at all.

So the dealers have no reason to change their selling practices unless Honda step in and enforce some level of customer service on them.

Oh look a flying pig

Mark.

When this sort of thing happens, customers should inform Honda UK Customer Service.

Uk Dealers have only a limited number of S2000's available to them (my dealer 6 S2000's in one year) If they sell all 6 in the first 3 months then they have to wait until one becomes available, this could be 6 months.

They are told by Honda UK that they are not allowed to take a deposit, or give a date of delivery. But as we know the dealers are full of B** s**t.
