Unhappy Ecu Help

The problem am having is my old ecu kept on throwing up a fault code p1607
so i popped it into my local dealer and i was soon after advised from a honda technician it was the ecu and it was best just to replace it rather then to have it repaired...

so i went and searched for a new ecu and sourced one from a member hes been good and helped me to the best of his knowledge but now i need all the tech heads to help me...pls

every time i plug my new ecu in it starts and runs for 10secs and then cuts out no matter how much revs its on...and in them 10 secs that it runs like shit idles crap aswell ive tried to make it learn the idle on 3k revs but soon as my 10secs are up it dies out and i have to restart the process...

i was advised that it didnt need a key code but after having no luck i popped it back into honda to have the key coded up to the new ecu,3hours later the same tech told me that hes coded the key to the new ecu and its still cutting out after 10secs so he wasnt too sure either this is the same technician who told me to replace the ecu...
so now am here pocket lighter still the old ecu back in ther and still with the engine management light on
.........

Where in the UK are you?

If you are near Reading, I've a spare we can try.

What happens if you put the old ECU in?

P1607 - ECM/PCM Internal Circuit Failure

You shouldn't have a problem using another ECU from another car so long as the keys are programmed.

Whereabouts are you?

well the only prob that i had with the old ecu was the light staring me in the face, and the fact that it sometimes took more of a crank to start her up

Sounds to me that the key has not been correctly programmed. Sounds like the car is starting with the residual fuel in the system and then just cutting out as the immobiliser doesn't feed any more fuel.

Why do you think you need a new ECU?

Idle learn takes a good few minutes.

Your fault code is related to the vac solenoid or throttle.

I personally feel that you need to find the exact fault rather than swapping the ECU.

If you tape your friends key (the one that matches his ECU) to your key, the transponder will be close enough for the immobiliser to be deactivated. This will allow you to rule out whether or not the key has been coded correctly.

Chris.

Is the immobiliser in the ECU?

As the JDM cars have none of this.

So if I swap a JDM ECU into a UK car, it'll not need the immobiliser key?
