i bought the new ecu from this forum of a member but i just emailed a guy who has one on ebay and he replied with a bizarre email not sure if hes right about what hes saying or is he?heres the reply i got..

"not 100% sure i think it was a 2002. it the earlier one because it hasnt got the imoblizer in the ecu. The later one has the extra bit around the ignition barrel which you would need aswell. I have 0ne of those aswell from a 2004 car."

Is the immobiliser in the ECU?

As the JDM cars have none of this.

So if I swap a JDM ECU into a UK car, it'll not need the immobiliser key?
Correct

Just the same as if you used a Mugen ECU.

Urm, there are two imobolisers in the UK cars. The ECU houses one which is characterized by the flashing key indicator when you put in your key, the other is disarmed by the key FOB.

You will still need the immobilizer key/fob with a Mugen ECU.
The second immobiliser is part of the alarm which HUK adds to the UK S.
