Default The End of an Era!

Yes, as some members have said, ‘it’s the end of an era’. It’s also the end of a love affair!

In 2002 I thought that the S2000 looked a nice car to run around in for two or three years. None of the local dealers (in North London or South Hertfordshire) had a car available for a test drive, and they all quoted eight months delivery for my choice of colour, Nurburgring Blue Metallic with blue interior and hood. So I went on-line and found that Fish Bros. in Swindon had ordered this colour combination ‘on spec’, so a quick drive down the M4 and a deposit was in place.

The problem with the S2000 is that it is such a beautiful car to look at, and to drive, that there is no way that it is a short term fix! So began a twelve year love affair. With just over 88,000 miles racked up over this period the car was used extensively for touring. With almost 20,000 miles spent exploring mainland Europe, from Norway in the East to Corsica in the West, the car behaved faultlessly. We covered this country extensively, and know the West Country and the Lake District like the back of our hands! All of this with no driving incidents or breakdowns (it is a Honda, after all!).

Unfortunately, due to ill health, the love affair has come to an end and the car has been sold. It was with a pang of regret that I watched the new owner (men6dgv) drive Snoopy, AKA S2000 LE, AKA S200 OLE, away in bright sunshine and with the hood down. I hope he cares for it in the same way I have done.

I will still be lurking on the forum, which is by far and away the best one I visit! This is down not only to the members (who are a great bunch of lads and lasses), but in particular to the mods who put in a lot of hard work to ensure everything runs smoothly.

Au revoir but not goodbye,

dennohue (Dennis).

Always better to see a car drive off with nothing but fond memories - they are a hard car to get rid of aren't they

This is very sad news Dennis.

One can only hope the new owner looks after it half as well as you have.

Dennis
It has been a pleasure to make your aquaintance over the years. I think I first met you at one of the few Herts meets I went to and then again at Euromeet (the first one).

Dont go too far away from the forum .

It'd be a shame if you left us just cause the car has moved on, hope the health issues aren't too serious.

How very saddened I am to read this. I hope your health improves Dennis, your great trip write ups are so great to read! Do stick around and I hope the new owner enjoys the car.

Seconded.

And best of health - as far as can reasonably be expected.

Remember that you don't necessarily need to bring an S2000 to S2000 Herts meets, if/when you feel up to it.
