Default Engine coolant type

Mornign all,

Right, decided that it's time to change the engine coolant. (Car is an MY05 and i'm not sure it's ever been changed.)

Is there a specific type that is needed, and also how much is needed?

Thanks,
Andy

I just used the radiator drain tap, didn't bother with the block drain, even on a ramp it looked a pain in the ass

Just done mine at Ray's Andy. Only done it because I wanted some nice colourful Samco coolant hoses! I bought two 5 litre bottles of coolant from Hendy Performance.

Halfords coolant used to make my Mitsubishi's coolant system go furry, so I switched back to L250 (Which was Nissan I think). I believe this was due to the different inhibitors they use that reacted, which is worse than normal with aluminium blocks. Not sure if the pink halfords stuff is the same blend as what you are currently running.

Always try to use the same coolant blend unless you are fully flushing the system, or they can react. A full reverse flush should do the job.
