U must be a top gear presenter then!

I have had no probs with my MY00 it doesn't even use oil!

Though it does only have 16k miles on it and I have extended the warranty by 2 years

Disorderly - good luck and keep us posted

is there a 'grace' period where you have time to take an extended warranty after the 3 year one is up?

I agree its a great car and really good fun to drive (and its not as tricky as some say it is to drive) but what has how well you can drive it got to do with your luck as to whether or not you get a mechanical problem?

AFIK I think you can buy a Hondacare at any time as long as you have FHSH and the car is under 7 years old (I bought an AA warranty for the 4th year as it was cheaper at only

lots of blow ups recently. Anyone out there running a standard MY99/00 car without an extended warranty is taking a huge risk at the moment IMO

My car is still in the dealers. They are taking the cylinder head off to have a look at the block/valves etc. They still don't know what the problem is, I will ring them later today. It's looking like a bent valve of some sort. I think it will be expensive.

For information, my car is a MY99, I bought it last year from a honda dealer with 20K miles on the clock, it had been serviced every year, i.e. roughly every 5K miles. I have since done roughly 13K miles including another service.

I have had no problems, nor any indication of impending doom!!!

The car has performed well, been run on Optimax, has used virtually no oil, which gets checked regularly and in total has covered only 33K miles.

Yes, I have driven it hard, but not recklessly.... but it is designed to be driven and revved highly.

I had the 12 month Honda care warranty when I bought the car and given all the above, didn't renew the warranty cover when it ran out a couple of weeks ago. With hindsight, I think I would... but hindsight is a wonderful thing.

I would agree with others who have posted saying the extended warranty is a good option. 250 notes for piece of mind. A new engine is somewhere in the region of
