Engine Swap
Hey all, I got a '99 AP1 with a blown engine. I have just bought an '07 AP2 for the engine. Is there anything else I need to change to make it work, or to make it easier? Total newb here Seen one or two threads, but want to make sure myself.
Thanks in advance.

07 is drive by wire, so quite a lot is different. Will need ecu, throttle control assembly. It also has VSA, so I don't know if there are sensors you need to add to your older car to stop it throwing a wobbly. Probably other stuff I've missed, but you're probably better off getting a suitable non-DBW engine for your 99. Or just keep the 07?!

If it's a dbw engine you have bought you will need to replace the crank sensor, crank trigger wheel, cam trigger wheel, cam cover and sensors also the fuel rail is different along with the intake manifold and tb.

As Nick said, the good thing is you can use the ones off your old engine.
Even if you go to the trouble of changing the ecu which you won't need to, all the connectors are different.

Thanks for the replies so far
I had a bit of a bargain with the purchase, so this engine will do as long as it is simple enough (ish!). The engine I have bought has come with the ECU, ancillaries, etc etc.
It is an 07 UK engine, and the car I am buying has had a rear quarter smash.

So, this still hasnt gone ahead...guy who was doing it decided to come.off his bike so been off work for a good few months! He is close to getting it done, though.
As a definitive list then, we need to do the following:
Crank sensor
Crank trigger wheel
Cam cover
Sensors
Fuel rail
Intake Manifold
Throttle Body
I got the ECU, would it be best to stay on original ECU, or this one? Would I need any other wiring loom etc?
Just asking as donor car is getting ready to be scrapped, see
