I dont understand this fender rolling, well why do it? - is it simply to just fit in big wheels or to fit normal sized wheels and lower as much as possible with rubbing etc?

It's so my wheels don't rub now that I've fitted spacers to clear my BBK.

They only rub when hard cornering but I like to use the car how it was intended, so I need more room to keep at this height.

Either or a combination of both.

Basically it just gives you a bit more room in the arches for cars that have been lowered or have wider wheels / lower offset wheels.

If you have a look in your wheel arch you will notice this is a lip that runs around the edge of your arch, this is the lip that people fold upwards or roll to give the extra clearance.

Some cars are rolled as standard.

Using the offset comparision against OEM 17" here

http://www.1010tires.com/WheelOffsetCalculator.asp

The front would be 21mm further out - that will rub the liner & tabs
The rear would be 27mm further out - that is also likely to rub
You might get away with not lowering it and loads of camber
IMHO I wouldn't bother compromising the geo just to get the look
You need to stick as close to the OEM 17" as possible

OEM MY04+ wheels are as follows:
Front: 17" x 7.0", +55 offset
Rear: 17" x 8.5", +65 offset

Surely on a non lowered car the tyres won't come anywhere near the arches?

Even if it does fit I bet it looks silly though
