As others have said really, buy on condition and not age, you can have as much fun in an early one as you can a later one, basically the later you go the suspension becomes slightly softer and more predictable handling as a result. My MY99 uses about 1 litre of oil every 4000 miles so don't let that put you off.
Personally I like the earlier car's edgy handling as it makes you work harder and drive the car properly.
Good luck

Just change the ARBs to the later ones and that will sort a fair bit of the lively handling, plus a geo check.

Press release here: http://www.honda.com/newsandviews/ar...=2003100645661 It's not especially specific, but IIRC it's around the rear arches area.

1L every 4000 miles?! I'd say most early cars use 1L every 1000-1500 miles so if you get that then you've got a rare one...or you drive it like Miss Daisy

My 03 pre face lift is slightly softer and more quieter than my previous year 2000, both very noticeable to my missus who wasn't keen on the last one.

There were changes at 2002.

Personally I prefer the 03 ride to 2000 maybe that's down to it being quieter, maybe 04+ are even softer, I dunno.
You could well get 2 year 2000 cars and be completely different to each other.

All that said, it wouldn't put me off having any year S2000

If you are bothered about the 'twitchyness' get decent tyres on and drive it properly.

Or you can time how much quicker you are than the pre-facelift gaggle behind
