Default Front lip + lowering

As per the title really, I'm considering dropping the car a bit to go along with my forthcoming BYS lip and 17's, since mine is a daily driver will the ride height coupled with the lip make speedbumps and the light far too difficult to navigate? Shall I leave it as is? (im just concerned it wont look right at stock height...).

Cheers

I would not be concerned if the drop is 25mm or less. I am cautious over speedbumps but rarely do I catch the lip. It was a different story when the car was dropped 45mm at the front. I'd be more concerned about the effect of using lowering springs on OEM shocks.

PL, don't worry I don't intend to go the springs only route

Ade, how much of a drop is that?

1. Craig is saying springs only is not a good idea as the stock shocks will be working under different operating range, in short they'll go south in a year if it's a daily driver. You've then got all the labour costs again plus parts to fix. False economy I reckon. If the funds permit check out some used coilovers.

2. Ade will probably argue with the above but he has Eibachs and a 25mm drop.

I'm on about a bit more than that and have a lip, my problem is the exhaust flange and lambda catching on speedbumps. I tackle multistoreys with extreme caution and only if essential. If you have mudflaps these will need trimming by an inch or so.

It does actually drop about 20mm lower than the front bumper!

Re-read my reply Jel, I did say I wont be going the springs only route so dont worry

I dont have mudflaps as such but are you talking about those rubber flap-esque things which are meant to aid airflow behind the front wheels?

Mikey, yours was the reply I was really looking for, wow 20mil without lowering and your other half still managed to destroy it?! Were your wheels 18's or 17's? I dont really know what to do now because im sure it will look a bit odd at stock height yet it IS a daily driver so I need to be able to navigate speedbumps etc without too much hassle...

Thanks for the replies chaps, keep the advice coming

Just imaging you have glass bottles all round the front bumper
ALWAYS back in to a parking bay.
Those are the infamous 18" tractor wheels above.
If you are lowering it go with PL's suggestion - 25mm & 17's

Oh yeah, sorry! Always alert on Sundays. The mudflaps are infront of the wheel - some don't have them.
