F20c is fine and the f22 never came to the UK.
Leave the car standard until you know what it can do, fwd is idiot proof and anyone can drive fast in a hot hatch, try the same moves in a rwd, short wheel base sports car without traction control like the s2k and you will spin. I would advise driving lessons on track over car mods any day.
The s2k is fairly accomplished out of the factory, the weakest link is usually the driver so if you want to go faster, invest in yourself.

I wish I had a big enough wallet for a RS200. lol
It's not really modifying but refreshing. Is it worth putting in rigid collars when replacing the subframe bolts?
On track tutoring will definitely be sorted for next summer though. It'll see it's first track day very soon after purchase!!
