Question Gearknobs - Am I missing something?

So I've read various posts on uk and US S2KI about people swapping gearknobs and it making the gear changes better etc. I first came across these years ago and one of the most heavily mentioned was the Skunk2 knob. At £50+ I decided against it. However, last week I found it for sale at half this, so I decided to take a punt on it.

I was led to believe these aftermarket knobs were heavier than the standard one, hence the appeal - but the skunk2 is actually a lot lighter? I can't really tell the difference in shifting with it fitted, except for the fact it sits a bit higher than the standard one (being taller) but otherwise feels the same?

Am I missing something?

Maybe its not a legit one. Skunk is circa 400+ grams, where as the OEM's range between 120-250 grams.

Agree with above post. My genuine Skunk2 much heavier than standard Honda one
Sorry to say sounds as though you may have a fake.

My PWJDM one is around 500g and you can really feel the difference in shifting.

Glad this thread has come up...

Please skunk 2 is around 400 from memory so maybe a fake you've got.

While I'm here thread Jack time!

Has anyone used the blox 490? I nearly pulled the trigger, seen some chaps from the USA forum who approve.

I fitted the DC5 type-r variant, liked the brushed alloy finish matching the radio cover/slide compartment.
