Does this exist............?.Wife needs one desperately {Shes seen one in something else}as she hasnt got a clue what gear she's in,i've told her she can drive up to about 60 in 2nd but the fuel economy will be bobbins.

At least shes stopped driving in the summer flip-flops

I think one of the sponsors here tried to make one a while back but found the S shifter was not compatible...

I would imagine the problem would be the reverse gear selection? A good idea though, something like the ferraris have would be very cool

...just found it. Ricks looked into it and the base of the gear stick would need machining down to fit a gate.

I think this is the closest anyone has ever gotten. Looking at how small the gate is, it doesn't look possible to me unless the gate is raised. If you search under 'gated shifter' you'll find other threads on the topic.

if its just to know what gear she is in would it not be possible to make a simple gear indicator with an LED display and some prox sensors, I know there are some people on here that seem to be up to speed on electrics and if you could mount the sensors underneath the gator it could be a clean install

Buy her an automatic TT mate, not meaning to sound offensive or anything but if she's that inexperienced then the S is not a great car for her to be in at all!
