Default Goodwood travel advice

For all you Goodwood veterans who have been there before - what is a good time to get there for?

I assume there will be traffic to the venue and for parking etc. I am coming down from London (any other people heading down on Sat from the Big Smoke) so will need to factor in about an hour to get down there.

Any advice appreciated!

Get to the A27 (try to make it down the A29 and arrive at or west of Arundel (its a bottleneck).

Follow the A27 westbound towards Chichester. Ignore the signs for Goodwood FoS car Parks at Tangmere and keep going to Chichester.

At the outskirts of Chichester you will come to a big roundabout (again A27) which has a Mac Donalds on it. (Left is A27 Portsmouth).

Take the sign for Goodwood (last exit RHS) which will take you up the proper road to the festival and into a more sensible car park.

If it rains, this car park is more usable than the one they try to get you into as the mud gets silly.

Also , the exit from the nearer car park is much faster.

Aim to arrive at 8.30 ish and you should be fine.

Remember to go out to the car park at lunchtime to see what's on show !!

I'd second this - I used this one last year and despite a heavy downpour, managed to get out of the car park without a problem. Doesn't seem quite so busy either.
