Hi Guys,


Just a small noise ive noticed recently.....

Basically when I accelerate and get to about 4krpm (in 1st gear) and go through it I hear a very small grinding noise. The noise lasts for just over a second but I have never heard it before.

Any ideas?

 

Are you sure it's not a vibration?
Does it do it when the car is stationary?
Front, rear?
Small mouse sharpening his penknife on the flywheel?

 

It could be a vibration....but I am not entirely sure. It doesn't happen when the car is stationary, and when I am in the driving seat it sounds like the sound is coming from outside the passenger window......

It only happens in the lower gears when I suddenly put my foot down to take off and go through the rev counter before changing.....its only very brief too

 

Most possible a vibration from something. It could be the passenger's seat belt lock.Just a thought.

 

I am not completely disregarding, but it sounds like it is coming from outside.

 

Something loose or vibrating on the exhaust/silencer?
Bang around with a rubber hammer and see if you can find something that vibrates.
Check the hangers.
