Had my first true brown trouser moment

Almost did this infront of a police van, damp floor large roundabout with traffic lights, saw them change to amber about a car length away so just dabbed the throttle to get through, I didnt powerslide but when I lifted back off the throttle in an attempt not to speed past the rozzers I got lift off oversteer, steered into it and managed to get back in a straight line without fishtailing, the cops never batted but it did make me wonder if that had been traffic police would they have considered it dangerous driving, as if i had intended to slide?

its only dangerous if you crash
Otherwise just because you have the arse out doens't mean you're out of control.
Another loop-hole in traffic law, basically comes down to officers discretion as to wether oversteer =/= dangerous or an accepted inevitability of performance RWD cars in the rain

If the backend steps out you will be taken to have been out of control (and likely 'careless' driving as a result) or else (by definition) doing so deliberately which will invoke an even greater level of judicial rage. This is not to say that a copper may not exercise some discretion as you suggest, but don't kid yourself that a perfectly judged drift will not be foul of the law...
