Default Hardtop Problems

Please help.. I reinstalled my hardtop yesterday after it's been sitting in the garage for the spring and summer and for some reason the fitting is not as it used to be. The front left striker doees not really have any tension in it and the top seems to be really pushing against the front left pillar... to the point where the weather strip is bursting out and because of this, the top is squeaking like crazy on the front left. I've check the top placement and see that the top is actually sitting more forward on the right than it is on the left so shouldn't that make the right side push more towards the pillar than the left? any suggestions would be appreciated, thanks in advance..

How did you store the top?

Have you tried putting it on again?

You can try to adjust the rear catchers but if its warped too much you might have a problem buddy

Let it sit on the car for a couple of weeks then look at adjusting the catches as per Honda's instructions.

Could bad storage cause fitment issues? like warping?

Only saying as i bought a second hand top, and the top left a pillar is always a bitch to line up, saying that it does fit fine and snug once on.

Apparently it can - it's in the manual I believe Also each hardtop is 'fitted' for each car so if you buy a second hand one, your hardtop fitting kit won't have been adjusted for it. This is also in the manual as well as in the FAQ.

the hardtop's supposed to be stored vertically with the side-catchers lower-most. when i got mine off ebay it'd just been sat in a garage flat. it was badly warped & was a bugger to fit but after a couple of days in the sun (i had to fit a line of tape on the bodywork under the rear of the hardtop to stop it rubbing the paint) on the car i adjusted it & it was fine.

My roof didn't fit properly when I first got the car. It was nicely sorted by adjusting the fitting kit - take off the rear plastics and adjust the positions with the roof in place. It's detailled clearly in the HT Fitting manual (let me know if you don't have this, I can scan it for you) and is quite an easy procedure. My roof now fits beautifully, no creaks, no wind noise and no leaks.

I'm not sure I buy in to this Warping business? Surely the most stressful way to store the roof is on its end (this is how I store mine, incidentally. 6 months standing on the front end - glass side up - on a rug in the garage, and it fits perfectly when I put it back on). However, clearly something happens, so maybe it does warp slightly when not fitted to the car.
