Having a screen replaced
I have just been looking at the parts sheet for the windscreen seals. As well as the outer screen trim, there is also a dam set that is £35 and a couple of other rubber bits that adds up the cost, does anyone know whether these parts are absolutely necessary? is it the sort of thing that gets refitted when autoglass do a replacement?

Had mine done a few months ago, used a local screen fitting firm. 1/3rd of the price autoglass quoted me BUT I had to take it to them. Still another opportunity to drive it (with the roof down too!)
They said that the seal may need replacing but that they would only use genuine H parts...however, they also said that sometimes the seal will come out with care.
Apparently there are some dubious fit rubber seals out there and they would not consider fitting the screen without the genuine version.
To their credit they got the seal out and saved me £100 in process..
..
The rubber / screen is a better fit than it was before they started (previous screen replacement)
Edit; Make sure they get the right screen with the correct mirror fixing on it..
