99-01 is the original
02-03 had some comsmetic changes and a more user friendly geo setting
04- is just soft with more user friendly stuff, tacky fake metal and daft ride height

Get an original, slam it, 18's an an aftermarket exhaust.

when i get 1 it will noit be older then on 02 because i like my music and the tweeters would be good and as i work on cars i know the hassle about the plastic rear screen. i think i'll go for the last of the old shape on an 03 plate with about 2 years warranty left, going cheap private..

If you buy one with a hard top (although you may not use the HT much) I'll bet you will find the soft top and its window will be in much better condition because of the time its been left folded (mine was ). Also, the plastic rear screen gives you a larger visible area and is not difficult to keep in good condition with the right cleaning material. So OK, clarity is not quite as good as glass but you can see well enough to make out shapes and movement in the traffic, and anyway you should be watching that road 1/2 mile in front of you and not behind you!

Why buy a softer car? Get the original

cheers for the info guys. just got back from the dealer and had a good look at 1. booked a test drive for next saturday. they had the colour i wanted on show :-) royal navy blue.. if i can get one with a hard top i'd prefer it but im not really that bothered.

if i was any taller i think i wouldnt fit in 1, seat was right the way back. im 6ft 2 it hink the best seating position would be if you were 6ft 1 but i was comfortable none the less..
