Default Help Needed

Please can someone advise me the quickest and easiest way of removing the trim surrounding the handbrake. It would appear that I have a faulty switch on the handbrake and as such cannot get the roof to go up at the moment.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Its very easy once you know how.

You can prise up the rear portion (armrest) with your fingers and then work your way forward unclipping the trim as you go. The gear knob need to be released from the locknut using an adjustable spanner or similar. If you have the UK Cat1 alarm the led in the centre console can be pushed out from under the trim and then the collar removed from the led that then fits back through the hole. The wiring to the washer, demister, hazard and roof switches unclip quite easily.

The switch for the handbrake is very easy to access

In my car the hardest bit is the damn led wire, the muppet who fitted the alarm has pulled it almost taut, its a right PITA!

Don't be tempted to go at the trim with a screwdriver, some members have had their delaer do this with nasty consequences.

Take your time with this, a new trim piece is in the region of

Thanks for the advice - actually managed to fix the problem by spraying compressed air down the gap between the handbrake and the trim. All now working ok - lets just hope the sunny weather continues.

I was in DW Honda on Saturday and Dave told me that you had the problem. You used a hairdryer?

I am booked in for the Alignment check next weekend, thanks for the tip,
Sam.

I don't know when, but at during one dealer visit (could even have been the initial alarm fitting) one of the clips was broken on my console. It still fits correctly, but I was a bit miffed when I saw this - I found it easy to remove the console without any damage.
