Default help please. small centre console jam

Hi, my young lad has put a pen in the centre console (where the lighter sits) and I can't get it open. Initially I could and it would open an inch when I pressed the button and I could see the pen. Tried to move it and now I can't open at all (well less than a cm)..... is there any way to get cover off please? Does it clip on? can I put a knife or similar where there seems to be a small gap that runs around the top edge and try and wedge it out?

I had this, I had to lift the entire console clear and shake it whilst trying to open the drawer, it took a while but worked in the end.

Get your fingers around the edges of the plastic either side of the tunnel as well as on the leather section and just pull. it's secured with metal spring clips so you have to give it a bit of a tug.

Spykee - you do meant just pull the whole draw/plastic area including the area that has the roof button? ...... not the leather tunnel area on the outer of the draw.

Is it just the blue dot areas that come off (see pic) or the red area that comes off as well? I assume you mean the red area ....... just can't see how I can get a pen out and release the draw by removal of that ...... martin suggested shaking it but that would mean shaking the whole red and blue bit in one piece I assume?

thanks for your help

Yes that's right. Just the plastic shroud that goes the whole way along the tunnel and around the gear gaiter, not the leather underneath it

So I assume I will see all the inner workings under the console when it's removed and I will have to move it around the handbrake to get it off then.

Sorry only just spotted your pic. its the blue and red area. if you just pull the black door you'll break it! I can't remember off the top of my head but its worth trying to shake it while trying to open it like martinj said before you go down the road of removing the spring etc for the door slider.

thanks spykee ...... I assume it all clips back on easy.

Sprint for door slider ....... how would I even get access to a spring I assume it's all inside the bloody draw :-) ....... crikey ...... told my lad off... he's only 7 (just frustration on my part) .... just an accident but he's always fiddling with things / pressing my stereo cover and so on.

thats kids for you mate yeh it clips back in easily, I pulled mine yesterday on my MY00 to unplug the headlight washer switch so i dont lean on the bloody thing!

Just pull the red bit with a good tug all along the sides and it comes up. putting it back in place, line it up and then give it a persuasive tap with the side of your hand
