Hi, just seen your question, as above, the whole red/blue areas lift up handbrake up tight and in third gear position, I use a flat blade like a wallpaper scraper to help lever the console up, spreads the load on the clips and it comes off easier.

Just pull the red bit with a good tug all along the sides and it comes up. putting it back in place, line it up and then give it a persuasive tap with the side of your hand

All sorted ..... thanks to you both. Called my dad for a hand :-) ...... he's a bit more confident than myself taking things apart. Anyway, ended up having to detach/unscrew the plastic and bring it inside to take it apart ... was the only way we could get into it .... then get the spring back on etc and back together before getting it back into the car.

Got my wheel locking nut out and put it back in the boot ... Phew

Kids ..... he fiddles with everything ..... and he's gadget mad, always on the computer, always wants to go on my new phone or ipod touch etc :-)
