High Points..
..of our recent 3 week, 3500 mile european tour.
Jude and I have just returned from a european tour. We did seven countries in 3 weeks, visiting some of Europes most beautiful places. The star was the car though.
Here are some of the best bits:
Going down a minor road in the Belgian Ardennes and having a whole cafe turn out to look at the car. Thumbs up all round as we went past.
Overtaking a Kawasaki ZX9R on a mountain pass in France. ( I didn't have time to see the expression on his face)
Going through tunnels on the Italian lakes and dropping down a couple of gears and accelerating just to hear the engine. We emerged from the tunnels wearing silly grins.
Finding the roads of the Auvergne in France empty and well made, perfect for spirited and safe driving as you coud see round most of the bends. Gorgesous scenery as well.
Driving for 10 hours once and stopping only for petrol. We arrived as fresh as we had started, though our hair was a bit ruffled.
The amount of attention the car got everywhere. Little boys and girls, teenagers, whole families, boys on scooters, grannies - all stopped and gawked. We saw only one other S.
Packing two tents with all our camping gear into the boot. The only thing we missed was a table.
Some brilliant co-driving and navigating by Jude. Reading the map (2cm : 1km Michelin) closely she would say something like "there's a bend to the left, one to the right and then a straight where we can overtake"
Easily geting up to 130mph on an Autobahn.
Bad bits:
Having the Clifford alarm go crazy in Luxembourg and nealy causing an accident.
Using a litre of oil every 1000 miles.
Getting back to crowded UK roads.
