Honda UK compensation + Autocar
I have recently and reluctantly sold my S2000 - #400ish into the country in Oct 1999 (silver/black - totally wonderful, sob) - due to unavoidable circumstances: we moved to the US. Flicking through this forum I saw Simon Jackson's message saying that he got

I purchased my S2000 in June 2000 (arriving 3 months sooner than expected). I asked the Dealer if the price was to be reduced, they said under no cercumstance. So when the price came down (Sept) I marched to the Dealer and asked for my

I think the S2000 got brilliant press release in the UK. Only evo gave the car some stick.
I personally blame Honda UK. Honda dealers got a habit of not putting S2000 and NSX's in their show rooms. If U walk into a showroom in the UK(majority) you would not believe that honda makes serious sports cars and provide engines to 2 formula 1 teams.
Half the population still have not seen the car.
They never seem to have confidence in marketing sports cars and the UK seems to be the last place to know anything.
I saw an officail honda advert in CAR magazine about 12 months ago advertising the art of VTEC. About 3 - 4 pages. Guess what! No S2000, No NSX, Only Type R's
They have done alot of restructuring. Lets hope Honda Uk get their act together!

Hi Ricardo
Honda Uk just don't know how to market their goods, my local dealer has only sold 3 s2000 in the last year. They have had so many enquiries, but no sales. This is because people want to see what thay are going buy, and test drive it. If any person goes to the dealership and asks to see an S2000, the reply is "DO YOU KNOW ANYONE WITH ONE". Honda UK will not let the delership have one for show. I have been asked three times if I would take my car in for customers to see (for a payment). Infact, during my first service the dealer had arranged for SIX customers to see it.

Dealer I use in Newcastle has had a year old NSX, and several S2000's, but they shift them quick, this year, including one to their accountant, they have sold 7!(Wonder if he paid list), but another dealer 10 miles away has never had one to my memory.(Guess which I use for servicing ).
Brand new Monte Carlo Blue they sold on March1st, was bent two days later, lost it booting around a mini-roundabout and clobbered the kerb . All sympathy lost when they said he had to go back to using his Jag convertible or something.

Jatwpc,
Mail me and I will send you my thoughts on this. I recently did the same for Paul and I think that a few letters to them about your disappointment would not go amiss.
Kind Regards,
Simon.

Many thanks, Simon, message coming.
ricardo_life,
In addition to the Evo piece, I seem to remember a less than glowing initial review for the car in Autocar. You're right though, most of the reviews were very good - it just did not get the instant universal adulation I thought it deserved! (not that I was biased by the fact I had one on order, oh no.)
UK Paul,
Did you run the S2000.org.uk site, or is that another Paul?

jatwpc, hazdjc, what the ** are those user names!? sounds like polish to me.
Anyway, jatwpc, I remember seeing a rather trashed red s2000 on W.houston st a few months ago, is it the one you're talking about?
BTW the new EVO came out, "sports cars issue", and no S2000 on the cover, amongst VX220s, MGFs (!), and MR2s...

Yeah, that's the exact car. It seems to live at the corner of Houston and West Broadway. Had a hard life, I guess.
What does Evo have to say about sports cars?
jatwpc is my log-in at work - I thought I would try to keep life simple.
