Honda Warranty not worth 2p
My newly purchased Macamobile has been off the road with seized brake calliper. Honda UK refused warranty because of modifications, comprising (a) yellow painted stock calliper (b) Goodrich brake hose

a,b&c are not very likely and just sound like excuses they pulled out of a hat....if they can prove there was paint inside...fair enough, but "might" and "could" is not really good enough explanation.

wonder if it's worth trying southern counties.
IIRC scov had 'met' this car before.
good will may play a more favourable role with him.....

as you say (kobe, san) it's a load of b****cks, but tough to prove. I very much doubt that scov will want to get involved in this dispute. What's in it for him? Is he the S2000 owners white knight? I think not. He's probly nearly as pissed as I am with the suits in Honda UK. FFS what would it cost to make a middle course?

No harm asking, Rog.
All he can do is say No.
As far as being 'tough to prove', mate, as far as I understand, it's them's thats gotsta do the proving, not you.

I just wonder how many "un-modified" calipers have failed and replaced under warranty....was this a rear one?
does this mean that painting brake calipers is a modification that invalidates the warranty on the brake system?

Not really, San - they simply say "It's not covered" and the onus is on Rog really to take action to make them cough up, which means the burden of proof in practice (rightly or wrongly) is on him.
Rog, if you feel yourself getting all litigious, I'm your man for a few pointers!

Mark, what was all that discussion about air intakes, then?
Everyone seemed to say that for the warranty to be invalidated, Honda had to prove any engine failure was due to the intake?
Should that not apply to all aspects of the car?
And stop soliciting, Mr Solicitor!!!!

There doesn't seem to be much consistency from one dealer to the next, but I'm not sure you're not expecting too much when you take a car in with as much spent in mods as it cost in the first place - might raise a few eyebrows with any dealer, any make of car I would have thought?
The car looks like it's been modded for track use, etc - is it really that unreasonable that a car pushing out 330-350hp (IIRC) might have caused the brakes to be used beyond their original design spec? Just my tuppence.
What I don't follow is how Mark T gets replacement shock absorbers for his car based on pure (and of course incorrect) guesswork, yet a brake caliper can't be dealt with
