Default Hoods

Hi Guys, this question has probably been answered plenty of times but the hood on my 2001 S2000 is on it's last legs. I'm looking at getting a newer version with a heated glass rear screen from a breakers yard. My question is does a hood from a newer car with a glass window fit straight onto my older version car and does the glass screen fold down away correctly? I've found a breakers selling 2 good conditon hoods and is selling for £300 each - is this a good price?

Cheers jam79

Me also but I was wanting the frame and the hood as hopefully that is easier to fit? Anyone know a good place to buy one as I am wary taking a risk of getting one from a breakers without seeing it. Sorry Jam not meaning to highjack your post with a bit of luck the info will be good for both of us.

I do believe you need to use the frame from the glass hood too. I think it had slight differences to fold the glass rear screen.

If you do a search i'm sure there will be lots of information about this.

I'm sure someone who had done this themselves will be along to clarify it in a bit though.

Jam,

Hello and welcome.

You are correct that this question has been asked many times, if you use the search, you can find the answers to most things.

Have a look at the "Read this first" sticky here https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=131836 for some things to get you started including a guide on how to use the search.

Some adjustments are required to fit a glass windowed roof onto an older car - here's a good thread for you to see what's involved https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=723262 £300 is about right from a breaker's and fitting will be from £200 upwards at a rough guess.

The forum has a "traders" section where you can buy stuff, and Monsoon is a company that can sort you a new glass roof for a reasonable cost including fitting. https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=749567

Yes the hood will fit onto your car without any modifications and yes the glass stows away neatly when the hood is down.

I'm not sure whether you have the wiring for the glass screen demister pre-installed in your car though
