I had an interesting encounter with a BMW 5 series last week coming back from Gloucester. He came flying up behind me as I approached a roundabout. I saw him in my mirror and thought 'Brand new 5 series, this should be interesting'. I picked up the pace as we entered the dual carrage way and he kept up with me all the way up to 120kph but he was not gaining on me. After this point he then started to pull on me and decided he would try and pass me in lane 1 as we approached a no. of cars! He did not judge the closing speed on the other cars too well and when he was alongside my rear pasenger side he ended up slaming on his breaks and pulling back behind me. Not wishing to continue playing this cat and dog chase, I pulled over at the next opportunity and let him pass.
I must say, for what appeared to be a standard 5 series (no M series badges or racing body parts to give a clue as too what was under the bonnet) he was quick, then I saw the badge on the back 545i (4.5L V8)

Anyone else encountered these ?

Well got hassled by a 645 yesterday. I was on a meet recce run though so didn't take the bait. Neil_S2k also got hassled by a Beemer convertible on the same run.
That 645 is as ugly as sin.
Why is it that these cars only seem to be owned by Chav's made good?

This is why I love this car - you just can't explain to anyone that hasn't experienced it how much fun it is!

There's nothing quite like pulling away from a hellfords mobile containing spotty teenagers as if it is standing still - and yet they continue to try - just provides even more fun
