huge amount of fun yesterday
had huge amount of fun in the S yesterday.
Took the day off to see a mate. The morning was raining stair rods. On my way back the sun came out, the roof went down and i was presented with a glorious late afternoon autumnal drive along mile upon mile Wiltshire back roads. You know the type, narrow, twisty, uneven, bumpy, unpredictable and strewn with leaves, mud and gravel. Just the thing to loose the back end.
Which is what i set out to do. Not only was it huge fun but educational too.
With out going into lengthy details even in conditions as slippery and with road surfaces as unpredictable as you will ever find (ice apart) at no time was the car uncontrollable even with me deliberately trying to prod it. Ok these are all fairly slow roads even in the dry so the back end has less energy to bite with but still to get the back end out I had to drive in a manner that I never normally do

Have to say I'm sure you will have no problem driving at 30mph in 3rd, total lack of torque then. However if you were in 1st you would have been generating one hell of a lot more torque to the wheels and would have had to be much more careful I'd have thought. Same goes for 2nd gear which is the likely gear most people would have been in.
Still i agree with your sentiment, the S has proven very safe for me!

high gear / low revs = difficult to get into trouble
did an equally greasy corner with good run off at 5000/2nd and inputed reasonable amount of right foot.....
which was a lot more interesting. but we didnt leave the road
