Thanks Jason,

I have printed off this thread and added it to my checklist when getting the car. If these guys deliver my car on time, with no issues at all then I will forget about the few extra hundred I could have saved doing it all myself.

Often.

Thanks guys. I panicked when I too saw the news on the TV. Car was bought through a dealer I have known for ten years, was brand new and unregistered and has been checked through Honda Japan [vin number].Uk cert of conformity and new log book obtained. Not certain what more I can do?????. Supplying agent has also imported other cars for the dealer.

How did you get a UK certificate of conformity for a Jap Import? I thought this was impossible and hence you need a SVA certificate.

Is it Jap Spec or UK Spec?

Calm down everyone, hey, hey!

These allegedly stolen greys would normally be sold as used cars. Personally, I think this problem is being sensationalised by the media as usual.

If you are buying a new car, it shouldn't be an issue. You can check the vin with Honda if in doubt.

I thought Jason was right - CoC for an EU car, SVA for JDM car?

Thanks guys. I'm calming down now as I would not want to lose such a great car. Sorry I meant SVA cert. Is Jap spec but I cant see any real difference apart from usual [radio]. No alarm and no headlamp washers but front I think looks neater. I also have six spoke alloys like the nice Maisto model.

Washerless front looks good, but bear in mind come MOT time if they know their onions you may have a problem, Mental note: Fit locking wheels nuts, get good alarm swap wheels with me
