Insurance - recognition of UK cars
My insurance is up for renewal and some quotes stipulate that the car must not be an import. Is this just for Jap cars etc? Mine is a Euro import, to full UK spec and was first registered in the UK at new, so there isn't anything that shows on on the V5. I don't remember anything in the data check when I bought it either. Is it therefore safe to insure as a UK car or would the insurance company try and weasle out of any claim?

You should be OK Burnie. Last time I called around insurers I can remember being asked if the car was UK spec.
I think it would also be breaking European law if insurers were to differentiate.

It is always down to the Insurance companies T&C's.
90% are happy with UK spec euro imports and it will not make any difference with the quote, however some do.
EU imports will not be marked on the V5C, only grey's
As long as it's full UK spec and a euro import you will be fine. Outside of the EU is classed as grey.
Any problems, speak to Direct Line, I had my Audi S3 euro import insured with them with no problems.
