Mine went at around 8.7k - sounded like a blowing exhaust, but AA thought not. Recovered to Swindon. After lengthy investigation, turned out to be the crank shaft breaking up!
New short engine - seems fine since, and done total of 20k now..

Does sound like 09's aren't fairing well....

Crickey.

OK - That's 5 known cases.

HB - It's not a warranty issue. That's what has been grating owners when faced with a hefty bill.

Mine was covered under warranty. They questioned whether it had been oil starved - which it certainly hadn't in terms of oil levels - it never used a drop.

Elijah - Can you post up your engine no.
It will be interesting to see how close you are to Trish's or mine.

sorry for opening the can of worms guys.

I'm not worried about the engine issues, as these are straight warranty issues (would be interesting to see where a car out of warranty woudl fall - say 4 years old with sub 20K, FHSH, in a few years with such a failure??? - but lets not start that....god forbid!!!)

I doubt I will be setting the GEO to track the car but if these cause me any issues in my planned 3 years of ownership I wont be a happy bunny.

Until then however, 4 weeks left with a dickie knee, then I shall be driving for pleasure whenever poss. A nice trip to Scotland is planned for April to Loch Lomond, might even venture over to Skye for a highland fling!!! Thats my kind of honeymoon!

Phil you have not!!! This thread just sometimes goes slightly off track and advice is given that although well intended, is not accurate IMHO.

As far as i am aware to have the bushes copper greased is not something that dealerships are responsible for.Yes i am aware that this is a ongoing issue and it should be addressed but (still reading various threads) many have tried and failed.

My post was not aimed at you or bushes! it was a generalisation about panicking people into running to their dealers with issues they are not responsible for.

OK - that's clearer.
The dealers are not responsible for the bushes on the car.

It's the factory that should do it.
But they don't. And the bushes can start to seize up after 6 months.

C'est la vie.
