Kiwi's list of problems with "S"
Like i said to him at the time, if i was him, i wodl have it parked in the middle of there forecourt, and id be in the office with a braker bar.
I was actually shocked... at the faults i found.
Some were potentially lethal.. i flicked the wish bone bolt, and it nearly came off...lent on the dash it nearly snapped..
there eis just NO excuse for work of this standard.. EVER..
say it was my car.. saw my wife drove it
with my kid..
Say that nut did come off, say the bolt came loose...
say the wheel fell off..
say they were on the motorway...
say there was a saloon with another family in it...
say you crashed into them at 80mph with a wheel missing..
Say my wife and child are now dead....
say there are now also 2 kids growing up without a dad, and a mom in hospital...
say I go to there garage and kick 7 colors of shit out of all of them...
say i end up in jail ....
they should have there licences revoked.
Think what else has come out of this garage..
Actually makes me furious....

This is not good
I bet you almost wish the car was written off now.
As far as not taking the car back as a few have mentioned, I think you have an obligation to allow them too correct anything you deem incorrect, unless you want to have this resolved at your own cost

Not at all, you have NO obligation to a company that puts your life at risk because they are to lazy to do there job.
It's a safety issue not a quality issue. You should inform them, if for no other reason than they have some muppet doing this level of work on other cars where owners probably are not so cautious.

Recently we had our Focus fixed (very minor scrape) and the repair was shoddy, won't go into details (all sorted now) but my issue was where is the QA? Fine the individual repairer has a bad day (don't we all) but before handing the car back to the customer, surely someone else should check over the repairs to make sure it's all done ok!!!!

You pay your insurer an exorbitant fee every year. Now make them earn it!
The contract that you have with your insurer is for them to have the damage made good. They then sub-contract this out to a bunch of monkeys who are paid peanuts.
However, I'm not sure where you stand, bearing in mind that when you collected the car, you would have been asked to sign a release form to state that you were content with the work that they had performed. If you have signed this, then things become a little more tricky.
That said, how many owners (as mentioned by Ninebolts) would bother to check their suspension bolts? In the event of a crash, who would be culpable? The certifed professional (small p) mechanic, who knows how things ought to be done and has a responsibility to check that things are done correctly, or the owner, who may very well be a little old lady with no engineering knowledge whatsoever, who is asked to sign a form?
I wouldnt worry about the form, like you say it isn't really worth the paper its printed on. You cannot know the scope of the work / what was removed for access etc anyhow.
