Default Knocking Noise

Hi Everyone,

I'm new to the forum. I've recently brought a 2000 Silverstone Grey/Red Leather S2000 with 75k. I brought it fairly cheap knowing there was a problem.

There's a knocking noise coming from each shock or that area. Basically the car was fine. The guy I brought the car off. Replaced the springs with APEX 30mm lowering springs and never changed the shocks. After about a month it started making this noise. When the springs had basically settled. He had it checked out by a company and they reckon its the drop links. But if you bounce the car up and down and hold on to the top of the shock mounts you can feel the noise. And there doesn't seem to be much play at all in the drop links. You can see oil on two of the drivers side shocks where the seals must have gone. But the passengers sides seem okay yet they still make the same noise.

As anyone had or heard of similar problems.

Thanks Daniel

Chopped springs lol, not a good idea.
Check on the forsale/wanted part of the forum. There was someone offloading some standard shocks recently on there.

And HI!

Thanks for the reply guys. As I thought then I need to replace the shocks.

Hypersonik How much are you looking for the shocks?? I'm sure I could wait a week.

Out of interest what lowering shocks and springs do people recommend and what Coilovers do you guys recommend for the S2000??

I had Eibach Coilovers on my E36 M3 EVO and loved them!! They gave a comfortable ride with great handling.
