Default Laser diffuser - LRC100

I have the originB2 unit installed, I don't actually have the laser detector installed at the moment as from all accounts it's fairly pointless.

I was however thinking of getting the LRC100 diffuser to plug into it which does sound like it's worth it. Apparently it emits a five second burst of laser stuff to confuse the laser gun then switches off so PC plod hopefully thinks nothing of it.

2 questions -
1) I know these things can be considered to be interfering with justice/police work - any expereince on views as to whether a. the police can tell or b. would really examine your car and prosecute?

2) has any one got one - and are they worth the

AFAIK, laser diffusers are already illegal, and the next Road Traffic Act will make detectors (like the origin's laser detector) illegal too. GPS devices will remain legal as they don't "detect" the speed camera, instead relying on information that is in the public domain.

I had a b2 Solo fitted in my S, and the laser detector never went off once. As I understand it, the diffuser would be triggered by the detector, so you'd have to connect that up too.

IMHO, the benefit of the laser detector is questionable as you have very little time to react. It's probably only worth it if you have the diffuser but then you're breaking the law.

If I was about to spend money on these things all over again, I'd probably just go for a TomTom (or equivalent) with the speed camera database.

Have you officially subscribed to the Speed Camera Database?

I've managed to get Speed Camera updates from here and there and My Tom Tom is pretty spot on.

I have the Origin B2 and the Tom Tom. The Origin is much more reliable, it's in another league. Some of the Tom Tom camera locations even have the wrong speed limit.

I wouldn't bother with the Origin laser detector, since I had mine connected I have been done twice, it didn't pick up a thing.

but not if u have an LRC100. It blasts and u ram the anchors on, when the lazy worthless piece of sh1t copper with nothing better to do tries to recheck speed it will then get a reading as the LRC will have timed out. The emphasis is on the ramming the anchors on. Nice and safe of course but then if they were out catching burglers and actual scum there would be no need.

If your vehicle repeatedly throws invalid or null readings back from lasers then eventually you're likely to have your car impounded for an inspection. There are stories on the 'net of people who have fallen into this trap. Unfortunately there is an excellent image of you and your licence plate when this happens and it is often logged to a database. Repeat occurances of being unable to get a fix on your vehicle are just inviting prosecution. Depending upon the tenacity of the cps you could find yourself charged with anything up to attempting to pervert the course of justice. This has happened and has been documented in the press over the last few years. Google it....

As for the TomTom users, the ONLY concise speed cam database can be found at Pocket GPS WorldFor a small fee a year you have unlimited downloads. They can be saved as POIs for each speed zone so you can set individual distance warnings and alert tones. Joe public updates them. I drive around 50K a year and it works very well for me.
