Your clutch should NOT smell if you do it properly. If you end up slipping / riding the clutch is will bog and in turn smell.

I find that 4k rpm and a very fast foot removal of the clutch (not side stepping) works for me, with no bad smell. Theres lag for a split second until you hit 6k rpm and then

The S is a nightmare to get off the line quickly, I had a cupra Leon keep with me untill about 50 when I crept past. To be fair theres not alot of difference on the roads between alot of cars. I always found TDI s beating me off the line, I always chose my moments and limited them to rolling. The other thing is you look such a prat with the engine screaming only to bog down.

Not so sure about that, I dumped my clutch yesterday and the car barely moved, it's like it didn't even catch

Smelled for a while after

Last time I did it, with NO problems. I won't be doing that ever again.

I just sit at the lights slipping the clutch at about 4500RPM and just dump it when the lights change. The car has a wiggle and off she goes.

Now and then I can smell it, but that's only if I've done it say 6 times in a row.

I've managed to out launch a Scooby at Santa Pod before so it can be done, just takes practice.

0-60, let alone 0-30 is not the best place to see the S perform. I'd say avoid these races most of the time.

Lots of cars are pretty quick to 60 nowadays. It's over 60 when you really hurt them.

Having said that, providing you don't bog down, you shouldn't have much trouble with most cars from a standing start.

Big autos can catch you out. It's just a question of stamping on the throttle for them.

Dumping the clutch can be very bad for the diff. And if that breaks due to a high rev clutch dump, Honda say it is non warranty

not being mr doom and gloom but I won't be doing it anytime soon.

Can usually beat most stuff away as long as you don't mind vtec in 1st gear (and the engine screaming like a banshee)

with the above, rolling start maybe with a little clutch slip at say 2000rpm to avoid the opposition getting well ahead then bury the throttle 'til the rev counter flashes.

Works a treat at the ASDA lights on the way out of B'Briggs
