What do you guys think of the standard bridgestone tyres in this kind of weather, seem like the cars losted allot of its power and grip.

Standard ones are fine for me, have to tiptoe about everywhere like most of the other cars on the road at the moment. I like the idea of winter tyres but would have to be on a separate set of rims otherwise I would be worried about cooking them once it starts getting a little warmer.

Having said that I spent two winters in canada driving a car with all-seasons on and managed to commute 1.5 hours a day through the countryside (in heavy snow) with virtually no problems.

Mine is still stuck on a stupid incline out the back of my house! Has been since thursday. Standard tyres (RE050) are giving no grip to get it out and the neighbours are fed up pushing

Oh well... 100bhp Astra CDTi it is for a while

I didn't find my RE050s too bad previously, which was why I sold my winter tyres to Beardie last year (they were bought for my MY02).

They now seem terrible - only just made it out of my estate yesterday - small inclines at junctions where you have to come to a complete stop.

5 minutes of wheel spinning, side ways stuff

Think I will looking for winter tyres again now - meantime, I have bought 50kg of road salt and now just need a shovel

I managed to get it out by putting carpets behind the rear wheel, and backed it out...

I would recommend the Nokian WRG2's at the moment. Had Vredestein Wintrac's on before the Nokian's and the WRG2's were better a tyre.
A very highly rated tyre
