I've recently bought an S, and yes the miles were a playing factor in my purchase. I also decided to go trade as well.
For me the thou, the service history was the biggest factor when searching for my dream S. Mine came with full service history and 25K on the ODO, and 12 months warranty, (its an AP2 56 plate).
Another factor Ive always looked at is the condition of the interior. For me, if i've just spent 12k on a car, I don't want it to look like its been lived in for the past 6/7 years.
As for miles I always used the assumption that a car that's been treated right and looked after with 80K under its belt is just as good, if not better, than a younger motor with 10K on the clock thats been abused by an ignorant owner.
