I should have trusted the missus instinct - she was not overly keen on the blue.....

Sometimes they are worth listening too... Some also call it gay blue (I'd suggest a quick search on here!)

However I actually quite like the blue. But I was sucked in by the ultra rare manly moonrock

It will look good on white wheels.

A bit girly, but good.

Just picked up the car.
Assume it is normal to hear the diff when driving with hard top on?
Got me worried, thought there was something wrong with it. Dealer says it's normal....

The diff can be a bit noisy at slow speeds, yes.

Changing the diff fluid made all the difference to mine. Was whining at slow speed and was very dark when we checked it. When was it last changed?

I hear it most when I've turned into a junction in second gear and start to accelerate, maybe under 20mph,something like that?

Just to be clear - I dont know if it is the diff - that is what the dealer told me on the phone!

The sound is best described as a whirring / rotating noise which increases in frequency in line with the car's speed.

At lower speeds it is more like a rotating noise. At the higher speeds it sounds like a tiny little engine spinning its heart out.

The noise occurs regardless of whether the car is in gear or coasting in neutral.

When the car is in gear, as I accelerate the frequency increases to reach a high pitched whine by the time I reach 70mph.

If I take my foot of the accelerator - whilst still in gear and at reasonable speeds - the noise changes to what can best be described as screeching noise. Once I apply the accelerator the noise switches back to the whirring noise.

I am still trying to go through the service history but at this moment it looks like the diff fluid has not been changed for at least 2-3 years!

I am back home now - but the journey was butterflies in my stomach all the way home - and not the nice butterflies - more the anxious one!
