Default LPG Conversion

Has anyone undergone an LPG conversion or anyone know about these as with the price of petrol being so high I was wondering whether it's worth it?
Does the fact that these need to be run on high octane fuel affect it and any suggestions on expected MPG or performance drops or who does the conversions and how much it would cost?

I would expect that no body has done this. Apart from the practicallities of filling the boot with the tank, I can't see that there would be sound logic for doing so. I don't think there is anyway you could maintain the performace charactistics, therefore a better solution is always a second car with better MPG?

LPG 'should' be the same, if not slightly better performance wise giving the same characteristics .

However there are rumours that the tax relief on LPG will end soon as the environmental benefits have not been proven.

A mate had it in his Legacy.

Cause problems as he didn't have his "valve seats hardened" ..

Was quite costly to repair I believe.

In theory you could but a tank in place of the spare wheel but i donlt know how much it would hold. so you shouldn't lose that much boot space if any.

I don't know when the tax relief will end and its worth finding out as not doubt the price will go up to near or beyond current petrol price.

Unless you are doing stupid high milage i cannot see the cost benifit of owning a second car as this then needs to be insured, taxed and MOT'd. even if you bough a cheap

Its a sports car so it would defeat the object entirely. Also, with this bunch in power, tax on LPG will soon ensure it costs as much as diesel / petrol soon because of the 'Green' con.

The only sensible option is to buy a car that's cheaper to run, or a motorbike / scooter as mentioned above.

As far as im aware LPG does not have the same cooling properties as petrol so you can cause the pistons to overheat

Yes he does, all of the cars at Palmersport are LPG - very wise but I suspect they are also set up for it.
