Default MAP sensor odities

My kangarooing was getting a bit unbarable, so I got a map sensor online (I found a link on this forum to here).

I just tried it an hour ago, and it didn't seem happy at all. Kept cutting (mis firing I guess), exhaust smoke seemed a bit dark.

It seemed better with the stock one back in, but struggling to idle properly. I'm just doing an ECU reset now, hopefuly I can get it back to how it was...

Is it just a case that the sensor I've bought isn't up to OEM standard?

Probably, for sure very few of the bits (non honda) out there will work but I've found some of the Hondas are particlary fussy with replacements bits such as MAP sensors and o2 sensors (generally the response rate etc).

Seems like its running very rich.

Either look on the yank forum or here and see if anyone has had sucess with non OEM parts or cough up for a Honda one.

If you ring Lloyd Honda of Carlisle up and tell them your a member of the owners forum and i sent you they'd probably give you a good price though it wont be mega cheap, alternatively import a Honda one with other bits to make it worth while from hardtopguy - but he communications skills are terrible.

I cant remember, I have replaced mine 3 years ago but I'm unsure if you had to remove a cap off the end, i think you do though

Did you take the rubber bung off the end?

Also beware the O ring which can fall out!

Ah just realised it's not new, so the rubber bung has probably been removed.

Check the O ring though.
