I'll take a look this afternoon or tomorrow and post my thoughts.

I do need to get myself back up to speed with the revisions over the years since 2004 (not many I, know), and problems too.

My £18k was based on dealer prices for the later models, but I don't mind paying less! It's 'just' a matter of finding the right one.
One main revision to look out for is the road tax,Cars registered after March 3rd 2006........£445!

Can you substantiate this with facts and figures please?

I'd like to see the numbers you're referring to re "quite a few", vs. other years.

Yep, no problem, I'll try but from memory without trawling the forum

As far as this forum is concerned we've had Gaspode's car, Bokkie's car with 2 replacement engines, Longpig's car which had 4 replacement engines, jsh (IIRC), s2kstar had 2 engines, etc.

There was also a recent post (May) by someone who's name I don't recall who had an engine let go at 19k on an 09 car

I've spoken to Bristol Honda as they appear to be the dealer with the most experience of the issue who confirmed they have replaced short engines on 5 cars. Unfortunately they aren't local to me as my car also has an as yet undiagnosed noise

There are at least 2 other cars with an issue at the moment but the owners are keeping it off the forum for the time being

There has also been mention on the forum of other cars being at the dealers having engines replaced when members cars are being investigated/ worked on

Paranoia aside, I'd say there is an issue

As far as the forum is concerned I'm aware of at least 8 cars off the top of my head but I'm sure there are more

Add to that the 5 cars Bristol Honda have worked on (and delete Bokkie's car if you wish)

Multiply this many times to reveal a true picture of the problem

All of the cars had relatively low mileges so I think we can rule out poor maintenance, abuse, etc

Clearly a manufacturing defect from what I can see

Honda are also very quick to authorise engine replacements, often on the basis of poor quality sound recordings made at the dealers, so it would appear they know what the defective part/parts are

They won't make it public knowledge because they will want to protect their image

Which is a shame and not a fitting send off for the last off the line cars

How does that compare to cars from previous years?

Or being posted about?

I don't believe all of the '09 issues' have actually been the engine, from my experience and conversations with people.

My personal opinion is that there's been a lot of drama about things

You asked for examples, I gave you details of 12 cars so I disagree. There will be many more

Engine failures in new S2000's were rare until 09 and like I said Honda have been very quick to authorise replacement engines which will cost them money

So, if it's not the engine then why are the engines being replaced ?

Please share your knowledge

After all, isn't that what forums are all about................
