If you go "big" as in a 2.4 or bigger you will have to reduce your redline. Whilst researching my turbo build I was informed that once you stroke the crank( so to speak) that the piston speed is so high that the wear on them is unacceptable.

This is one reason I didn't go for a stroker crank on mine, although mine is a 2.2. This has absolutely nothing to do with the quality of the component it's purely down to the physics. But you probably knew that already Mark.

Yep there's no way I will stroker the car. Reliability is a must.

Think a cage might be in order too.
A cage in the car, or.................. one to keep the car in?

Something which has been on my mind over the last few months is safety stuff. The concern is something like mechanical failure / blow out at high speed or spinning on the coolant dumped by some dodgy GT3 I've seen a few incidents on video lately to. As my old man tracks the car too, I want to make sure it's safe.

I have bucket seats in the car, which are quite low, but am using OEM seatbelts. This worries me a bit, although the seatbelts work as per OEM seats.

What i'd like is proper harnesses in place, but safely so, such that in the event of a crash the bar doesn't get pulled off if the seats decide to move.

What i'm a bit wary of is welding stuff in which isn't reversable. And not sure I like the idea of a full cage as it looks a bloody bugger to get out quickly if you need to.

So I guess it's a half cage like this:

Or is there another solution to safely use a harness?

Requirements are: (stolen from AE on another thread)

MSA regulation ideally
Roll hoops and Glove box stay
Bolt in
Hard and soft top compatible
Harness bar.
