... so that's why you're carrying advertising for Sumo Power

if fitting the hondata gasket are you also going to bypass the coolant hose? do you plan on any additional cooling mods if no longer using the intake manifold as a big heat sink?

Don't seem to be able to get J's stuff from anywhere else in the UK. The price was very good though.

I wouldn't bypass the coolant with the Hondata. I don't think any furtehr cooling mods are needed - the intake is a big lump but I don't think it will affect the block too much. But i'm still researching the whole subject...

Are you doing the hondata gasket yourself?, i was going to go with one but i couldnt be arsed in the end, looks to be a good mod as far as heat is transfer is concerned maybe more noticable on a track.

IIRC for every 3c rise in intake temp the air density drops 1% so how much difference i dont know maybe a couple of BHP, is the IAT still on the I.M on MY04's?
If I get one it will be DIY. Fiddly job.

Out of interest Mark, what was the reasoning behind the decision to choose a J's manifold over others such as Mugen or Toda for example.

Well...

I'va had a Mugen one and noticed no difference when I took it off. It's also more midrange biased, which isn't my aim.

Toda... I think they are a great outfit, but their offering is a little bit more of an unknown quantity in terms of dyno results / feedback.

I've been in a car with a J's manifold and ECU, and it was mighty good. I've also seen a lot of different dyno evidence to show it's the one to go for.

So I went with J's because of gut feel, having experienced it, and some dyno evidence.

Mark, I see.

I just used Mugen and Toda as examples of JDM manifolds, no underlying reason, I could have easily said Amuse or Spoon.

I look forward to you posting your experience once the J's is fitted.

Spoon - don't like their stuff.

The others (ASM / Amuse) silly money

I firmly believe the J's one is the daddy But we aren't talking big numbers here as you know.

I thought the ASM manifold was made by Toda and was essentially the same?

I would have gone for Mugen again, my dyno plot MB was very good with the full mugen kit and N1 ECU fitted, a little reminder
