Interesting read MB.

If your all about getting great gains, were you not tempted by a Hytech header(Manifold) ?

I was going to get the hondata gasket but was led to believe its basic prevention not cure, and eventually cant stop the heat going through so it makes little difference. especially if you go FI

Hytech is a bit of a white elephant I think!

I can't see it being that much better than a J's one either, not noticably anyway.

I wouldn't bypass the coolant with the Hondata.
The Hondata gasket blocks the holes that allow the coolant to flow from the engine block into the intake manifold, however the coolant still flows the other route through the TB and the intake manifold still gets very hot as a result. It is a simple job to block the flow of the coolant before the TB to keep the intake manifold cooler.

Top tip: A Honda dealer will quote, and charge you, for 2 hours labour to fit the Hondata gasket ..... because this is how long it says that the job should take on their system (it will, however, take them the best part of a day to fit)

This is not an easy job to DIY.

I certainly hope that you have read the problems which may occur with the Hondata gasket.

I was put off with the hondata gasket as well after doing a lot of reading.

I have a spare IM and all the with the gaskets and seals ready for the job just never fitted it.

I figured for the small amount of time the air will be in the IM I can't see it heating up too much to make much difference unless your stuck in traffic?

Interesting read Bharat, but a bit fiddly for my liking. I do think real Ivtec is very clever though.

Well the J's manifold arrived today, excellent service from Sumo Power

I've damaged my spanner arm (feels like a cracked bone!) so I won't be fitting until next week
