Default Might get a unichip

Hi guys.

Im looking to get a unichip fitted next month, the last of my mods .

Begin with, yep i know the unichip doesnt yield much power increase. I had a good crack with the guy today, they can alter the fueling/timing and vtec point.

Is it worth lowering the vtec point? - what to?, i think this is potential for gain and why would it be a good idea (other than obviously the vtec comes in earlier)?.

Also id like to sort the fueling out as it runs lean near vtec for a slight moment then gathers momentum again, and also i can get it mapped for 99ron.

I think being realistic i can hope for 200 @ whp, maybe a little bit more.

Was going to get one but didnt in the end

Views, opinions.

IIRC MB had one of these in his last 'S' back when he was called Dark Blue Mark.

I'm sure he'll be along shortly.

I don't think they can do the VTEC point change yet.

I think a touch lower would be good as it would take advantage of the shorter ratio's.

Depends how comfy you are with where it currently revs at motorway type speeds.

There is an new version Unichip coming out which I was hanging on for.

They definetly can lower the vtec, i asked the guy twice.

I only sit at 70mph on the motorway so it shouldnt be a problem.

Make sure you get the car on another dyno a few weeks after you get it installed.

Nobody else has been brave enough to do this yet.

What has the gear sets got to do with VTEC engagement?
You haven't changed much in the engine bay, no cams, head work or timing changes so what makes you think the local garage can do a better job than Honda Japan?

You sit in highier revs with the gears, plus you get into vtec a bit quicker too.

J's etc has done a better job then honda of japan with there ECU.

Fair point actually, its best to have all the breathing mods first - didn't spot that.

The benefit is from open loop AFR adjustment and timing advance.

You will be in VTEC < 100mph in top.

Not good for long journeys or your fuel consumption.
